Hace unas semanas estuve en el congreso de la Sociedad Europea de Biología Evolutiva y dentro de él en el workshop de Open Science. Para mi tristeza parece que no hay mucha concienciación aún sobre el tema y el workshop estuvo más enfocado a ‘lugares donde encontrar datos’ que a la concienciación sobre por qué los datos abiertos son importantes. Please find the presentation attached. The main take home message was the existence of online aggregators of data repositories that can be used (in a similar way as WoS for paper) to look for ecological datasets.
If you come from a relatively well defined community (e.g. genomics) you might want to directly find repository(ies) of interest (i.e. that hosts the data of interest) and look for data-sets within these. To identify these repositories, you can use http://www.re3data.org (I prefer to use this one) or http://roar.eprints.org/cgi/search/advanced. E.g. if you are interested in proteomics, just enter that search term in the re3data search box, which will return 53 results (repositories) with proteomics datasets. You can then consult each repository separately to look for the data of interest
If you are after a more general data (e.g. pedigrees of wild animals) than you can go to the EcoEvo data catalogue https://ckan-ecoevo.d4science.org. Here you can find a list of different places that search for datasets directly, within different data repositories, in one interface. also, you can register to become a member of the catalogue, in which case you can add items to it (i.e. if you find a good searh engine to find datasets), and I would like to encourage you to do so.
